Role-play

Role-playing as an assessment tool is considered to be one of the most comprehensive ways to measure managerial and interpersonal skills. For role-playing in a selection or development process to be fair and objective, it is imperative that the role-player’s performance is consistent and uniform within the parameters of the assessment instrument. The role-player must have an understanding of how the applied competencies will present in the scenario, which is essential to supporting the work of the assessor.

Our role-players are experienced professional actors with business backgrounds, fully trained to role-play and assess under standardised conditions in the field of assessment and development.

Assessor Training

Presented by a panel of seasoned and highly-qualified assessors, this course equips your HR and business personnel to run in-house assessment centres and assess a range of competency-based instruments, such as group exercises, presentation exercises, role-play exercises and competency-based interviews.

The programme covers the role of the Assessor, the legal and ethical responsibilities and provides a detailed understanding of the exercises as well as scoring/rating methodologies. The programme will equip your HR teams to assess in a consistent and standardised way that ensures a fair and objective recruitment/selection process. The programme also includes the design and management of assessment/development centres and giving feedback on candidates’ performance.

Interview Skills Training

For your organisation to recruit and develop the right people, your HR professionals must be skilled in many areas, including interviewing. Shift’s programme is interactive and engaging, and designed in consultation with occupational psychologists and grounded in the principles of fairness and consistency. We work to hone individual qualities and skills into a uniform approach to interviewing that is always professional and results in right fit for role.

Participants get to practice their newly-acquired skills using actors as ’live’ interviewees. The scenarios can cover a range of industries and professions, and are designed to give participants credible and realistic experience of potential issues and pitfalls in a safe learning environment. During the course, the relevant legislation will be covered with an emphasis on the practical implications. We can also include giving feedback as an extra module.
